Hello, I am writing to you as your constituent to ask that you prioritize climate action in future economic recovery legislation. As the United States deals with the intersecting crises of COVID-19, an economic recession, and climate change, bold action is needed to address all three. Luckily, this is possible and can be done simultaneously through an ambitious green economic recovery package. Climate change is one of the most existential issues facing us today, and the cost of inaction far outpaces the cost of taking action now. Additionally, climate change affects us all differently, with tribal communities, low-income communities, and communities of color disproportionately bearing the impacts of a changing climate, toxic pollution, and environmental racism. By prioritizing climate action, including investments in reducing pollution in environmental justice communities, and in creating tens of millions of jobs in the economic sectors of the future, in our economic recovery, we can begin the process of a just transition to a 100% clean energy economy that works for all of us. I urge you to prioritize climate action in future economic recovery legislation for the health of our planet and the people that inhabit it.
